Last March when I was eight months pregnant setting on the couch eating Bom Boms. A few of my friends and I got a great idea to run the Vegas Half Marathon. The two of them were in shape and I was eight months pregnant and proud of myself for being able to walk a mile! The baby came and he is very cute. And I assumed within a week I would be back to pre pregnancy Korina. Well life has not been so kind. I have been training since the end of June to get back into shape in order to be able to run the full half marathon. Has time got closer I became nervous if I was really going to be able to do it.
December 4, 2011 came and to be honest I was not really that nervous that day. I think I did not really think it was finally here. We got there 2.5 hours before the race started knowing it was going to crazy 41,000 people were running the race. It was crazy shoulder to shoulder people throughout Mandalay Bay.

I put the camera over my head to take a picture of what it looked like inside Mandalay Bay. We had to walk through the entrance of the Shark Reef in order to get outside and also to get outside. It was crazy Marlo and I became separated. We ended up having to call each other once we got outside to find each other again.
Then got into our corals if anyone knows me I am beyond claustrophobic. But all of people did warm it up! The race started at 5:30 but only one coral at a time. I did not actually leave the starting line till a little after 6pm. That was probably the hardest I just wanted to start!!
Then we started!
I tried to take pictures as I ran but we got spread out I could speed up so my pictures were blurry.

When I got to Beligio which was only like 2 miles I looked over on the other side of the street and here came 1st place spiriting in!! It amazed me how fast they were coming. The first few miles were hard to find my own pace and get through the crowd. After the first 5k we started to spread out a little. Which was nice to have some space. The water station the Black Asphalt was WHITE covered in cups everywhere you had to watch yourself that you did not fall on your butt. About mile 6 it got hard a lot of people begun walking and getting through all the people was difficult. About mile 9 I hit my wall. I was so tired and just so ready to be done! When I got to mile 11 it started raining!! I was more then happy to turn the corner into Mandalay Bay to the finish line! As we finished they gave us our medals and covered us up with the aluminum foil jackets! :P Surprisingly enough they kept you pretty warm. I was able to run the whole 13.1 miles I really did love it and enjoyed it totally worth it!

I got done a little after 9pm, I found Marlo we walked over to get my bags which was really organized and to our car at MGM. I finished at 9pm dealing with the crowds we did not get to my car till 10:45pm!! Woke up the next day to a very very sore body I really hurt from head to toe nail!!
(really my toe nails hurt!!)

I'm extremely proud of you. I'm so disappointed with myself for not doing it! But it wasn't really possible to do right now. I'm too close to finishing school so I had to pick my battles...school won this time! I promised myself I will do it next year plus one other!
