Here is my Katelynn. She is also receiving award at the Report Card Assembly. She has grown up a lot year. She is very excited about turning 8 this coming year! We went to her parent teacher conference and this is what he had to say.
It has been such a honor having Katelynn in our class this year. She is always sparking with excitement and positive energy. This really rubs off well on the rest of her peers. She always tries her best. Katelynn always goes beyond what is required in work effort. her willingness to help others is amazing. In the Reading Program Katelynn is currently reading on red red which is above grade level. She is a skilled reader and can read both fluently and with comprehension. Katelynn really loves to read. She with great expression and voice. Katelynn tries to sound like the characters in the stories that she is reading. This makes it exciting for the viewer to listen too. In September, she was reading 74 words per min. Katelynn is now reading 122 words per minute. This is a huge improvement. She is beyond the goal of 73 words at the end of the first trimester of Second Grade. I look forward to seeing even more progress in reading for Katelynn. In writing, Katelynn should be able to write a paragraph with topic sentences, supporting details, and concluding sentences with proper conventions. She is above grade level in writing Katelynn really loves to create stories that have characters, setting, and a plot. Her stories have good ideas and show a developing vocabulary. She is able to convey her ideas, thoughts and personality through her writing. She is working towards not only getting ideas down on paper, but also being able to edit and revise her work in order to improve it. Katelynn loves to create stories that have characters, setting plot, and prblem, and a solution. Her stories are always very fun for the viewer to witness. These stories are really helping others hear what great writing should sound like. By doing this she is helping others in the writing trait of voice. She knows how to put her thoughts into writing. Her stories always show wonderful imagination. They are always interesting to listen too. In the first trimester we have covered the following subjects in math: rcall of additon and subtraction facts, telling time, place value, money, and some geometry. Katelynn has been making steady progress with these skills. Katelynn is focused, motivated, helpful and consistently produces quality work, She has turned in 100% of the assigned homework this trimester. She is a pleasure to have in class and should be very proud of her accomplishments this trimester!
